Anambra Women United Breast Cancer Awareness Gala – 2014

Breast cancer can hide, however, as long as the efforts of Anambra Women United (AWU) – Chicago, and their collaboration with world renowned groups like American Cancer Society and the Rotary Club International continues to be sustained, you can rest, fully assured that sooner than later, mankind (with the help of technology, and God) will conquer this dreadful disease.

On Saturday October 4, 2014, in a packed house, at the internationally acclaimed Tinley Park Convention Center, in Tinley Park, Illinois, the women of AWU held their 2014 Cancer Awareness Gala to raise funds and bring awareness to the immigrant African community about Breast Cancer.
According to their mission statement, “ AWU is an organization that is deeply rooted in humanitarian and philanthropic services to disadvantaged women, children and sick members of our general population.”

AWU’s outreach in the past has included projects such as a financial donation to Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago. In 2013 and 2014, AWU supported 5 separate organizations to the tune of $15,000 in cash donations.  The organizations include: American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen, Sister’s Network, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Stroger Hospital. These organizations, like AWU, are also in the fight against cancer.  Also in 2014 AWU entered into a strategic partnership with Rotary International to jointly implement a Breast cancer project in Nigeria.

It is also note worthy to mention that  AWU’s past philanthropy work has included:
